Summer Institute Logo Register now for the first annual Midwinter Break Digital Literacy Institute, a three-day intensive media production and digital literacy program for Puget Sound-area youth ages 13 to 19.
The Institute will be hosted by the University of Washington’s Department of Communication February 18th, 19th and 20th, 2012. Instructors include journalists from the Common Language Project, and Seattle-area media makers and educators.
 

2012 Midwinter Institute Workshops

  • Interviewing 101 (opportunity to interview musicians, athletes, artists and others)
  • Audio Recording 101 (youth will collect sounds for audio slideshow project)
  • Digital Storytelling 101 (view and discuss diverse range of multimedia stories)
  • Multimedia Editing 101 (hands-on production and editing sessions)

2012 Midwinter Institute Details

  • When:10am-4pm, Sat. Feb. 18th-Mon. Feb 20th
  • Where: 126 Communications, University of Washington
  • Ages: 13-19 (graduating 7th through 12th graders)
  • Cost: $100 suggested donation. No one turned away for lack of funds.
  • Food: Snack and lunch provided.
